Basic Plan

5 valid html/css pages

With the basic plan, you will receive up to five lovingly designed html pages. These “static” pages would, for instance, consist of “home”, “about”, “contact”, “location” and “services”. That usually suffices for a small business owner who doesn’t have the time or desire to update the pages on a regular basis. Because these pages are considered “static”, one would need some html and css (cascading style sheet) knowledge. FYI – “static” does not refer to the items on the page. There can still be interactivity throughout the pages such as tabbed navigation or expanding/collapsing content. The information or content is considered “static” because it is not pulled dynamically from a database. Which leads us to our next plan – the CMS.

Hourly Rate

The hourly rate for the Basic Plan is $35 per hour. Because there is no need to pull information from a database, it generally doesn’t take as long to create this type of a website, so therefore is less expensive.

Information Architecture

What is Information Architecture? I’m glad you asked. IA is a fancy way of determining the site hierarchy. Through a series of questions and answers, we’ll determine what we believe to be the most important piece of information all the way down to the least important. This little bit of time taken is often neglected by other design firms. The reason unstuffed design requires an IA review, is because a little time taken at the beginning of a project saves a lot of time later on when getting design approval from the client.

Domain Name Registration

Regardless of which plan you choose, you will have to have a registered domain name. If you have one already, great! I can work with that. If you do not have one registered, I can do that for you or help you to do it for yourself.

Website Maintenance

There comes a time in the life of every website, that an update needs to be made. For those who choose the Basic Plan, you’ll have to roll up your sleeves and get dirty with a little bit of html code. If hand coding is not your forte, I’d be glad to jump in and make those changes for you.

Content Management System (CMS Plan)

Unlimited Pages

With the CMS Plan, you literally have control over how many pages/posts your website hosts. After I provide you with the 8-10 template files, updating is as easy as typing into any word processing program. In fact, this website is built on the CMS platform WordPress. These kind of pages are “dynamic” because they pull their information from a database. Coding for a CMS takes a little longer than a straight html/css website, therefore will usually cost more.

Hourly Rate

The hourly rate for the CMS Plan is $35 per hour. As mentioned earlier, using a CMS as the framework does require more time and skill to pull together. Therefore the upfront costs are more. But if you take into consideration the amount of potential dollars a static website might have due to updates, a CMS might be the right choice for you.

Website Maintenance

If you’ve chosen to go with the CMS Plan, you may not ever need website maintenance. Once you get the hang of it, adding (or deleting) pages and/or posts is a snap. You’ll be an expert in no time. If you still don’t feel comfortable with updating through the CMS, I’m here to help.
